The artistic work of Zuzka Medved'ova

Print E-mail
The artistic work of Zuzka Medved'ova follows the aesthetic and traditional idea of a
Slovak painter, of a folk orientation applied to everyday life motives of Slovaks from
Vojvodina. In spite of the fact that in the culture of the Yugoslav Slovaks her work seems
that of a loner and nonhistorical, her approach to the artistic creation finds its roots in a
wider artistic and historical framework. Another historical link that should be mentioned is
a period of work of the first academic Slovak painter in Ba?ka, K. M. Lehotsky.
Zuzka Medved'ova actually worked in ali the traditional fields of art painting. Figure com-
positions, portraits, landscapes and still nature arose under her brush in thin layers of oil
paint. It is almost certain that on this kind of an overall theme approach, the influence
?ame from the studies with prof. Jakub Obrovsky and Max ?vabinsky, that reared
according to the classical academic approach, ali manners of traditional painting.
